Nestled between jungle and beach on Pemba Island, with a wooden pier and jetty stretching over the water, Fundu Lagoon has one of the most idyllic locations in East Africa. Privately owned, peaceful and only accessible by boat, it’s the perfect place to kick off or wrap up your Tanzanian safari.
Accommodation comprises 16 safari-style bungalows with traditional Zanzibari roofing and glorious ocean views. The property makes the most of the natural foliage to ensure every room has plenty of privacy.
The surrounding waters are home to some of the world’s top dive sites, and to make the most of this Fundu Lagoon has its own fully equipped dive centre and fleet of boats. Water skiing, windsurfing and fishing are also available, as are visits to nearby villages and spice plantations. Other amenities include four fabulous bars, a magnificent hillside pool and a heavenly spa which embraces the ancient healing philosophies of both Africa and Asia. The main restaurant is set under thatch and has a menu that reflects the culture of Zanzibar – a subtle fusion of Arabic, Indian, Swahili and colonial influences alongside more familiar international dishes.
