ANANDA HOTEL, CARTAGENA

LOVELY BOUTIQUE HOTEL IN A 16TH CENTURY COLONIAL RESIDENCE

In Sanskrit the word ‘Ananda’ means happiness and joy – a state of the highest bliss.

Sitting on one of the three elegant terraces, cocktail in hand, after what has been a day filled with sightseeing, you could well find yourself in a blissful state as you watch the sun turn the sky into old gold.

Ananda Hotel, Cartagena

Such moments will make you pleased you decided on this hotel as a port of call on your luxury, tailor-made holiday to Colombia. A genuine boutique-style hotel, the Ananda has been created from an original 16th century colonial house, so it exudes period charm and character, with tented beds and wooden floors. It also has modern amenities like a pool and spa. But perhaps one of its most telling ‘blisses’ is its unrivalled setting, in the heart of Cartagena’s walled old city, amidst picturesque museums and historic sights.

“FLAWLESS, AGAIN”
This is the third time I’ve used TUTC. The service, as before, was flawless. Aside from putting in place all the major details of a complex trip to Japan, Dan at TUTC nailed every detail: train tickets were for seats with large luggage space (very important in Japan, as we discovered); a mobile internet wifi was included; together with a pre-charged use-pretty-much-anywhere travel card (again, important – Japan has multiple transport companies). For any kind of complex trip I won’t go anywhere else.

“SEAMLESSLY ORGANISED, TRULY UNFORGETTABLE”
The itinerary was spot on. Claire really listened and understood the kind of holiday I wanted – from the hotels to the pace of the trip. The team on the ground were exceptional: friendly, efficient, and always one step ahead, helping with everything from flight check-ins to tax-free procedures at the end. The guides were knowledgeable and genuinely helpful. I had an amazing time. Thank you!

“FAULTLESS AND FUN”
We’ve just returned from a Danube cruise with Douglas Skeggs and Joanna Worsley, with a few days in Vienna beforehand – all brilliantly overseen by Emily. From meet and greet at the airport to every detail on board the Amadeus Cara, the organisation was seamless. We’re already looking forward to our next Escorted Tour with 91³Ô¹Ï.
