ABOUT THE ITINERARY
GEORGETOWN
Arriving directly into Georgetown, you will be met and driven to your hotel for a night of rest and recuperation.
The next morning, you will enjoy breakfast at one of the local stands of Bourda Market with the host, guide and culinary master, Chef Delven Adams. After exploring the largest market of the capital, you will be met by an experienced guide who will introduce you to the history, rumours and facts of Georgetown with visits to an array of interesting sites that simply cannot be missed, including the National Museum, the Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology and the Botanical Gardens.
On the third day, you will jump on a short flight from Georgetown over the Demerara and Essequibo Rivers to witness the grandeur of Kaieteur Falls, the world’s highest free-falling waterfall which is five times the height of Niagara Falls.

IWOKRAMA
On day four, you will fly over hundreds of miles of tropical rainforest to land at Fair View airstrip. From here, you will travel along the road to spot a myriad of bird species, and maybe even the ever-elusive jaguar, before arriving at the Atta Rainforest Lodge, home to the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway.
The next day, you will rise before dawn to see some of the most spectacular bird life of Guyana’s rainforest from the tops of the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway.

RUPUNINI RIVER
On day six, you will journey along the winding waterways of the Rupununi River, spotting Giant River Otters, Black Caiman, as well as locals fishing and bathing in the river. You will then arrive at Rewa Village, where the Ameridian community of approximately 220 people reside.
The seventh day of your luxury holiday will begin with breakfast overlooking the river, before heading out by boat once more along the Rupunini River to hike up Awarmie Mountain. Along the way, you may see an array of birds and Black Spider Monkeys. In the afternoon, you will take a boat up the Rewa River to visit the Grass Pond, which is full of Arapaima, the largest freshwater fish in the world, see the Seawall, a rock formation which is a great place to fish, or visit the sand backs where river turtles come to lay their eggs. If you continue up the river into the rainforest, you will also be able to spot the Goliath bird-eating spider, the largest spider in the world.

KARANAMBU
After breakfast, you will say goodbye to staff and newfound friends to board a boat along the Rupununi River to Kwatamang Landing, then travel on-foot through the rainforest to Karanambu Lodge. Depending on the river level, this trip offers an excellent opportunity to look for Giant River Otters.
Karanambu is a former cattle ranch in the North Rupununi and is renowned for its expansive wetlands, vast savannah and riparian forest where over 600 species of bird and over 200 species of mammals can be found. Two guided excursions are provided each day either by boat, foot or 4×4.

GEORGETOWN
On day 10, you will journey back to Georgetown and take a drive through the heart of the city to the Stabroek Market. You will slowly cruise along and across the Demerara River while your guide gives you a brief history of the famous buildings along the waterfront. As the sun sets, you will witness flocks of Scarlet Ibis, Snail Kites, Herons and more as they fly across the sky and settle in the mangroves for the evening.

PARAMARIBO
Now one of South America’s most attractive cities awaits. You will fly to Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname and a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will begin your tour of the city by visiting the Fort Zeelandia, the ancient building complex, before exploring Independence Square, which is surrounded by some of the capital’s most spectacular sites.
You will then travel to the pier at Leonsberg to be picked up for the Sunset Dolphin tour, where you may see groups of up to 20 dolphins jumping and playing in the river waters.
Stay: One night at the Torarica Resort
MAROON RIVERSIDE VILLAGES
Today, you will set off for the village of Atjoni along the Upper Suriname River, which is famous for its breathtaking rapids to the Danpaarti River Lodge. As the day comes to an end, you can embark on an exciting river cruise in search of caiman lying on the river banks.
On day 13, you will visit one of the 12 Maroon riverside villages. With a guided tour through the village, you will be introduced to the unique way of life of the local population and to the wonderful traditions brought from Africa by their ancestors. From enjoying a traditional massage to exploring the winding river in a dugout canoe to watching a cultural dance performance, your visit to the Maroon riverside villages will undoubtedly be one to remember.

PARAMARIBO
Today, you will travel back to Paramaribo and enjoy a delicious meal at an Indonesian restaurant, which is popular in Suriname due to its unexpected Javanese population.
The next day, you will begin your tour to Commewijne, which will take you along the former colonial plantations and the outdoor museum at Fort Nieuw Amsterdam.
Stay: Two nights at Torarica Resort
ST LAURENT DU MARONI
Today, you will travel along Suriname’s coastal road to the Albina border, then hop in a Piaka or Pirogue canoe to cross the Maroni River into St. Laurent du Maroni, a town in French Guiana.
Upon arrival, you will enjoy a mini-tour of the town’s highlights, including the Camp de la Transportation and the church of St Joseph, before transferring to the Centre Spatiale Guyanaise.
Stay: One night at Hotel Mercure Ariatel
DEVILS’ ISLANDS
Today, you will travel seven miles off the coast of Kourou aboard a catamaran to the Iles du Salut, commonly referred to as the ‘Devil’s Islands’. Your boat will dock on Ilse Royale to tour the island and keep an eye out for sea turtles scavenging among the rocks near the dock.
Stay: One night at Hotel Ker Alberte
FLY HOME
On your final day, you will enjoy a tour of Cayenne, the administrative and commercial centre of French Guiana, before being transferred to the airport for your departing flight.
