LUXURY JAPAN HOLIDAYS

ABOUT THE ITINERARY

Whether you’re admiring the iconic peak of Mount Fuji, speeding through the countryside aboard a bullet train or wandering the pretty streets of Kyoto, our Simply Japan holiday itinerary offers you a new adventure at every turn.

Where better to begin on your luxury Japan holiday than in the hectic, mesmerising capital of Tokyo. You’ll ride the famous subway – using your pre-loaded Manaca card – to discover an intriguing mix of gleaming shopping malls, ornate temples and world-class dining.

From Tokyo, it’s on to Hakone via the well-known and super-efficient bullet train. Far from the bright lights of the city, your charming ryokan has its own outdoor onsen overlooking the mountains and forest. Last but not least you’ll arrive in Kyoto, Japan’s cultural heart where you’ll be able to immerse yourself in its shrines, classic gardens and tea houses.

Day 1-4

TOKYO

Catch a flight to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. You’ll be met and transferred to the Park Hotel where you’ll have time to rest and relax after your flight.

The next day offers you the opportunity to mingle with the local residents of Tokyo as they go about their day-to-day business. You’ll set out on a privately guided tour – using the city’s famous subway – of this dazzling metropolis, taking in all the main sights as well as some of the more unusual and less known features of the city. Your guide will be happy to tailor the sight-seeing to take in your specific interests.

You’ll be supplied with pre-loaded Manaca Cards for you to use throughout your stay in Japan, which are handy on public transport, in vending machines and even convenience stores. You’ll have the last day free in Tokyo to explore further at your leisure.

A fascinating journey lies ahead. Today you catch Japan’s world-famous bullet train (a must-do for rail enthusiasts) and fast-track to Hakone. Upon arrival at Odawara Station you’ll be met and taken to your accommodation by private taxi. A complete contrast to bustling Tokyo, in Hakone you’ll be staying in a traditional ryokan surrounded by an enchanting mountain and forest landscape dominated by the snowy peak of Mount Fuji.

During your stay you’ll be able to visit charming hamlets and villages connected by railways, buses and cable cars; explore an outdoor sculpture park; walk over to Chisuji Falls or go boating on beautiful Lake Ashi. Your ryokan has its own infinity-style hot spring bath overlooking the mountains, as well as private open-air baths in each of the guestrooms.

You’ll also enjoy a guided tour of Hakone itself and have a 2 Day Hakone Freepass; giving you the chance to roam at will.

Testimonial 6
“IN SAFE HANDS, EVEN WHEN PLANS CHANGE”
Every detail of our Patagonia tour was expertly arranged – from transfers and flights to the choice of hotels. When our onward flight to the Falklands was delayed by two days, 91³Ô¹Ï stepped in immediately and secured a hotel for us. It was an enormous relief, especially as we don’t speak Spanish and had no idea what to do next. That level of thoughtful, responsive service stayed with us – it turned a potential travel hiccup into a lasting positive memory.

“PROFESSIONAL, PERSONAL – AND A REAL PLEASURE”
From the moment we got in touch, everything felt smooth and well looked after. The team were not only professional and thorough – providing tailored suggestions with clear costings – but also genuinely friendly. Even after we returned, a follow-up email (and a bottle of wine!) showed just how thoughtful Ultimate Travel really is. Nothing was too much trouble. We already have more trips booked and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

“MONGOLIA STOLE MY HEART – A JOURNEY I’ll NEVER FORGET”
It was one of the best trips of my life. The itinerary you crafted for us was absolutely perfect; I wouldn’t have changed a thing. What made it even more special was the incredible team who looked after us. Edda was fantastic, and the two drivers we had for the Orkhon Valley and Gobi sections of the trip were possibly the best I’ve ever had.
